Later they may opt for it as a minor subject, which they study till their 7th semester. The fine art students started to learn photography around the same time as the design students but there photography minors began much later ... in the year 2002. The IVS “fine art photography minor courses” emphasizes increase in the potential to explore the possibilities of self-expression with the photographic image. The students begin with a basic black & white photography course in 4th Semester. In the 5th Semester with advance techniques they refine the ideas presented in the Basic B/W Photography course. Here is importance given to the relationship between exposure, film development, and the finished print. Students have the opportunity to enhance darkroom skills, experiment with toners and other manipulative techniques, and explore different photographic papers and chemistry. The students learn various in camera special effects techniques in color. And finally they are to use the acquired knowledge to the best of your abilities, to prepare and present a fictitious photo-essay in color. Furthermore they are put together an unadulterated documentary style photo-essay in black and white. In the following semesters as the students move through the minor courses level by level they learn to use a manual camera to its fullest potential in conjunction with basic darkroom manipulation techniques and various studio skills.
