These 20 images are a selected few from profusion of photography done in early 1998 in various parts of Iran.

I was commissioned by the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture to do architectural photography for the school library, while the students where on a study trip there.

Iran's amazing architecture speaks for its self. Of all the places visited the Covered Bazaars will be forever remembered. The classic bazaars and tea houses are a fascinating visual adventure into an era past. Till today its not just a labyrinth of quaint narrow streets but rather a highly complex city within a city containing baths, tea houses, hospitals, inns, Koranic schools, mosques, craftsmen and tradesmen etc.

A traditional bazaar will consists of many miles of passageways designed with great architectural integrity usually roofed for protection against the hot desert sun.The national drink of Iran is undoubtedly chai (tea) always served steaming hot black and strong. These time-honored tea houses continue to run as they have for centuries. Tradition is still maintained.
