… serendipity of consciousness just a beginning.
Where Is the Door to the Tavern?
Where is the door to God?
In the sound of a barking dog,
In the ring of a hammer,
In a drop of rain,
In the face of Everyone I see.~
The Gift – verses of Hazrat Hafiz r.a – by Daniel Ladinsky
… the images in this series capture moments that were, quite simply, happy accidents: the dragonfly that found its way into the studio one fine morning; the young boy at the mosque oblivious to my presence; the whirling dervishes ‘sema’ at the Sarıhan Kervansaray. I was not sure if my camera had captured the soul-stirring moments unfolding before my eyes; the camera was handheld, perched on the bench beside me, and used without a flash.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.”

“Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.”
