What is famous about the rainy season in Mumbai? For me, it’s always been the countless rain-related songs churned out of Bollywood for the movies made over the last several decades. This gallery try’s to capture the beauty that fills a city life with rain and sunshine in an unpredictable quick sequence of events. Here’s to the beautiful inclement weather that drenched me with memories. A trip several years ago happened on wonderful invitation by our neighboring country, intended for a photography book that somehow never came to a completion.

Finally “A Monsoon in Mumbai “ means childhood memories of the classic monsoon songs. These images were shot in mid-June. It’s a beautiful time in Mumbai, especially by the sea. While traveling during these monsoon months can seem difficult, you soon realize that life never stops in Mumbai once you’re there.

Rim-Jhim Gire Saavan,
The rain falls pitter patter
Sulag Sulag Jaae Mann,
And enkindles my heart.
Bheege Aaj Is Mausam Mein,
In this wet weather;
Lagi Kaisi Ye Agan,
What is the fire that rages in me.
Rim-Jhim Gire Saavan, Sulag Sulag Jaae Mann,

The rain falls pitter patter and enkindles my heart.

Bhige Aaj Is Mausam Mein, Lagi Kaisi Ye Agan,

In this wet weather, what is the fire that rages in me.

Rim-Jhim Gire Saavan,

The rain falls..
Jab Ghunghru See Bajatee Hain Bunde,

When like ringing anklets, fall the rain drops.

Armaan Hamare Palke Na Munde,

My desire refuses to sleep.
Kaise Dekhe Sapne Nayan,

Then how can my eyes dream
